What is your destiny?
I was inspired to write this article during an Angel Guidance Reading I did last week. I shared with my client that "There is no such thing as destiny." She was shocked and surprised at my statement. "There isn't??" she gasped.
I realized that many of you may be stuck because of this false belief in destiny, so I wanted to take a little time to explain.
Destiny
Back in my university philosophy class we called this belief "Predeterminism." It's the belief that everything that is going to happen to me has already been decided, and there's nothing I can do to change it.
This is a romantic, idealistic belief that can trip you up in life. You may not believe that you think this way, but what about in the area of romance? Have you ever wished to meet "the one," your soulmate? That one person that you are "meant" to be with?
How will you know when you meet this person? Well sparks will fly of course!! I don't know about you, but I've never experienced it that way. I never saw fireworks in another person's eyes, except perhaps in the movies.
What I see so often is men & women who have an expectation of what meeting "the one" will be like. If any experience they have doesn't meet this expectation they doubt themselves. They question,"Is he/she the right one for me?" Or in the area of career they might say, "Is this what I'm supposed to be doing with my life?" They are so concerned about being right and doing the right thing that they spend a lot of time questioning, wondering and worrying. In my opinion, if it feels right now, it is right for me WHERE I AM NOW in my growth.
The belief in destiny also implies that some force outside of you is in control. You may be trying to have God or even your angels tell you what you should be doing. This doesn't get you anywhere - just more and more confused.
If you believe that there is one right choice, you must then also believe there is a wrong choice. And that's why so many people get stuck. They are terrified of making the wrong choice. So they worry, analyze and dissect and doubt every decision they make. When they do finally commit, the timing has been blown. Now they have another excuse not to trust their feelings because things don't progress in a flow.
Belief in right and wrong is just a concept. Instead of searching for the "right" choice, see your choices as opportunities, neither right nor wrong, good nor bad. You can never do it wrong! Instead of searching for what is right, they key is to look at what you truly want. Your inner desire guides you to your life purpose. You need never be fearful, or regret choices you made in the past. You can't go back and change it anyway, so why bother thinking about it? Every choice you make is an opportunity to learn more and grow spiritually; no more, no less ... a stepping stone.
If you want to be more in touch with your life purpose, get in touch with what it is that you truly want and desire. Take some quiet time for yourself every day and look within. When you are aware of your inner feelings and desires you will have the road map to your life purpose.
If you find that you are doubting yourself, or worrying a lot you are probably getting stuck in your concepts of right and wrong. Just let it go and go with what you feel. I met with a woman the other day who shared that she would like to spend more time on her spiritual growth. She had seen emails about workshops we were offering in her area on the weekends, and she wanted to attend. But, in the next breath she shared that she really felt that she needed to be there every weekend for her sons to watch their sports games.
Her belief that she must be with her kids every weekend, may be stopping her from doing what she really desires. Her desire to take part in spirituality workshops comes from within. It's her true feelings and therefore it is part of her purpose. In order to more fully live her contract with herself, she needs to change her belief. The more she does for herself, the greater example she is to her children and probably fulfilling more of her spiritual contract with them. Will her kids suffer if she attends two or three out of four weekend sports games every month instead of all four? Her new belief can be, "By doing for myself, I am teaching my children to be loyal to themselves."
What are the thoughts and beliefs that are limiting you right now? You may be doing it completely subconsciously. Perhaps you would really like to get a massage, but you tell yourself that you can't afford it. But, if you are open to possibilities and solutions there are probably ways you can get that massage. Perhaps you have a service you can trade with your local massage therapist so that money isn't even exchanged. Perhaps you can forgo eating out in a restaurant this week to use the money on a massage instead.
When you remain open to possibilities and solutions you will be amazed at the ideas that will come to you. Rather than spending so much time looking at the "Why Not's," focus on finding solutions. Remain open and receptive, and your angels will provide you with solutions that may never have occurred to you. Your angels are always solution-oriented. If you have feelings of doom and gloom, remember that's not how your angels operate. No matter how bad things seem, there is always a solution. Your angels will never give you anything you can't handle. So, if you're experiencing challenging times right now (and I know many of you are) practice looking for the learning opportunity and the solutions. You'll be a stronger soul for it.
