A not-for-profit cancer information, counseling, and referral agency established in 1977, the Center specializes in providing nutritional, immunological, and psychological resources for cancer prevention, prevention of recurrence, and support during or after treatment. For 30 years, the Center has offered free services through its National Call Center to over 28,000 cancer patients worldwide seeking integrative, complementary, and alternative medical options. Real Hope for Healthcare Reform in
the Obama Administration
 Watch this video (link below) for some inspiration about why there may be hope for major shifts in the pace of healthcare reform. Click on Section 11 about "Ways to Improve Healthcare," given by Sen. Tom Daschle, President Obama's nominee to serve as the Secretary of Health and Human Services (HHS). This was the National Constitution Center in Philadelphia's Sixth Annual John M. Templeton, Jr., Lecture on Economic Liberties and the Constitution, which took place in June 2008. Some of Senator Daschle's key points included the following:
- Over 100,000 people die from medical mistakes annually--the equivalent of a 747 airplane crashing every 36 hours!
- GM spends more on healthcare benefits than they do on steel. Starbucks spends more on healthcare benefits than on coffee.
- Healthcare should follow a pyramid of care, with low-cost, wellness-oriented preventive care as the foundation and the high tech, expensive treatments at the very top, as a final option.

Wind Energy Can Now Power 7 Million Homes
 Read on for some great statistics about the real growth of wind power in this country. Last year the U.S. wind energy industry installed a record 8,358 megawatts of new generating capacity that can serve more than 2 million homes, according to the American Wind Energy Association. The new wind projects completed last year account for about 42 percent of the entire new power-producing capacity added across the U.S. Wind energy generating capacity in the U.S. now totals 25,170 megawatts, which can power the equivalent of close to 7 million homes. And the Washington, D.C.-based trade association of America’s wind industry now has more than 1,800 member companies. <<Read the full article.
Find a Certified Green Restaurant
 No, they're not numbered in the thousands--yet, but the number is growing exponentially. Michael Oschman is the pioneer who created the Green Restaurant Association 18 years ago, long before "going green" became popular. He created www.DineGreen.com, a website offering information, certification standards and a searchable directory. Although there under 200 now, Oschman expects the number of options to double in 2009. He also notes that "A top burger company recently got in touch with me. If that had happened ten years ago, I would have fallen off my seat..." Why not suggest that your favorite restaurants take a look at how to become certified? <<Check out the website.
